Developed at Whirlpool, Plā refrigerator was targeting students and young professionals.
The refrigerator was developed over several years going through multiple iterations.
While it was originally developed for the North American market, it was eventually introduced in Brasil under the Brastemp brand, one of Whirlpool/Multibras brands. It won design awards as well as critical design acclaim, and it still is being showcased in design schools.
It was designed in USA, and manufactured in Whirlpool’s Joinville facilities in Brazil.
The Plā refrigerator, and some of the other Plā brand innovations were covered by Wall Street Journal, Popular Mechanics, and Better Homes / Remodeling.
